Coffee County Middle School Backpack Program
What is a backpack food program?
Backpack food programs provide non-perishable, easy-to-prepare food to children to ensure they get enough food on weekends to avoid hunger when they can't depend on school meals.
If your student has a need for weekend food items, please click the link below.
Every backpack food program is unique to the community and school it serves. By providing kids with the nutrients they need when they're away from school, they show up on Monday morning healthy and ready to learn.
To ensure that this program continues to grow, we are reaching out for your help.
It cost approximately $5.00 to fill one backpack for one child for one weekend. With thirty (30) weekends in a school year, it will cost $150.00 - $175.00 to feed one child for the entire school year. Our program benefits from charitable donations. We always appreciate help; donations of food and money are accepted. Donations can be dropped off at the CCMS library.
Since our program is designed for kids to prepare their own food if necessary, please keep in mind that all food donations need to be shelf stable (no refrigeration required), easy open or pop top, and single serve.
Below are the food items we are currently in need of:
Cereal/Granola Bars | Chef Boyardee Meals | Instant Oatmeal Packets |
Instant Grits Packets | Easy Mac and Cheese | Peanut Butter/Cracker Packs |
Ramen Noodles | Soup | Canned/ Pouches of Chicken & Tuna |
Fruit Cups | Pudding Cups | Ready to Serve Instant Rice Cups |
Potted Meat | Vienna Sausages | Single Serve Apple Sauce |
Raisins | Beef Jerky Snacks | Single Serve Pork-n-Beans |
